Flood tidal delta
Depth of water
High tide -
Circumstances
A variety of delta, which is formed at the downstreams of inner bay-side of tidal channels in barrier islands and sand spits / longshore bars. Sediments are transported from ocean-side through tidal channels on the rising tide, and deposit as delta at the inner bay-side exits of tidal channels. As the Ebb tidal delta at the ocean-side tends to be destroyed by waves, flood tidal delta develops larger than Ebb tidal delta.
Sedimentary facies (Sediments)
Sands.
Sedimentary facies (Structures)
Stratifications gently inclined to the land side. Stratifications may include shell beds along bedding planes.
