Source for manganese
Field of view: 10 mm. Massive hausmannite. The dark brown part at the center is aggregate of fine hausmannite crystals. The massive grayish-green zone around hausmannite is aggregate of fine tephroite crystals. The light gray host is chert. The massive pink parts and the pink veins in chert are aggregate of fine rhodonite crystals.
Recovered from a chert-hosted bedded manganese deposit subjected to Albite-Epidote-hornfels contact metamorphism.
Hausmannite from this location was described in 1962.
