Source for manganese
Field of view: 40 mm. Massive hausmannite. The black part at the left is aggregate of fine hausmannite crystals. The brown to red part at the right is rich in hematite. The massive pale pink part at the upper left and pale pink veins are aggregate of fine rhodochrosite crystals.
Recovered from a bedded manganese deposit in pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite.
Hausmannite from this location was described in 1960.
