Field of view: 50 mm. Grossular associated with hastingsite. The dodecahedral brown crystals are grossular. The dark green needles overlying grossular are hastingsite.
Recovered from an open space of skarn formed by contact metamorphism of S-type (Ilmenite-series) diorite. Formed in the late Miocene (11 Ma).
Grossular from this location was described in 1947 as garnet and in 1952 as grossular.
