Grossular

Field of view: 10 mm. Grossular associated with calcite. The dodecahedral grayish-green crystals are grossular. The white parts in the interstices of grossular crystals are calcite.
Recovered from skarn formed by contact metamorphism of I-type (Magnetite-series) granite. Formed in the Late Triassic (220 Ma).
Garnet from this location was described in 1942.
