Brochantite
Kyowa-Funaoka, Daisen city, Akita pref., Japan
Source for copper
Field of view: 5 mm. Brochantite associated with linarite. The green parts are brochantite, and there are translucent short prisms of brochantite at the center. The blue parts are linarite. The transparent basement is gangue quartz, and earthy light brown parts are dirt.
Recovered from an open space of a quartz vein in a meteoric oxidation zone of a moderate-temperature hydrothermal deposit in andesitic pyroclastics formed by dacite probably associated with a volcanic activity of a caldera.
Brochantite from this location was described in 1970.
