Storm-dominated shelf

Shallow marine

Overview

A sedimentary system composed of a series of sedimentary facies at seashores facing to the open ocean. As there are no protections such as sand spits, bars and barrier islands, the facis are subjected to the strong and direct influences of waves. Approximately 80 % of modern seashores are storm-dominated shelf.
