Source for Titanium
Field of view: 5 mm. Rutile perched on adularia. The reddish-brown prism at the center is rutile. The silver-white part around rutile is a group of platy muscovite. The platy reddish-brown crystals at the left of and above the rutile crystal are brookite. The surrounding translucent white parts are adularia.
Recovered from a titanium type rare-element pegmatite in the S-type (Ilmenite-series) margin of I-type (Magnetite-series) granite formed by the reduction reation of granite magma with pelitic rocks.
