Source for Titanium

Field of view: 5 mm. Rutile associated with quartz. The translucent dark red prisms are rutile. The transparent basement with a vitreous luster is gangue quartz.
Recovered from a titanium type rare-element pegmatite associated with S-type (Ilmenite-series) granite. Formed in the late Miocene (9 Ma).
Rutile from this location was described in 1982.
