Rhodonite

Field of view: 30 mm. Purple rhodonite. The purple grains are rhodonite. The translucent white parts are quartz.

Recovered from a chert-hosted bedded manganese deposit subjected to Albite-Epidote-hornfels facies contact metamorphism.

Rhodonite from this location was described in 1954.

Rhodonite

Field of view: 30 mm. Pink rhodonite. The pink grains exhibiting perfect cleavage are rhodonite. The transparent to white parts with a vitreous luster are quartz.
