Field of view: 40 mm. Hematite associated with goethite. The powdery red parts are hematite. The black parts are goethite forming a porous group. The open spaces of the goethite group are filled with hematite.
Recovered from a goethite-jarosite deposit formed by bacterial Fe biomineralization from Fe-Sulfate spring water. Formed in less than a million years.
