Field of view: 40 mm. Almandine crystals in pelitic schist. The red grains are almandine, and the black host is mainly composed of biotite.
Recovered from pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite. Formed in the Late Cretaceous (100 Ma).
Almandine from this location was described in 1963.
Length: 20 mm. Almandine associated with schorl. The red grains are almandine, and the white host with a vitreous luster is quartz.
Recovered from a pegmatite vein of S-type (Ilmenite-series) granodiorite origin traversing pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite. Formed in the Late Cretaceous (85 Ma).
