Field of view: 10 mm. Almandine associated with annite. The trapezohendral red grains are almandine. The platy black crystals in the interstices of almandine are annite.
Recovered from skarn formed by contact metamorphism of S-type (ilmenite-series) granite of a caldera complex with a moderate-temperature hydrothermal deposit associated with the same caldera complex.
Almandine from this location was described in 1947 as garnet and in 1961as almandine.
