Low-temperature zeolite facies metamorphic rocks

Dacitic pumice tuff of middle Miocene Fudojiri Formation, Susugaya Subgroup, Tanzawa Group, subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite facies.

Outcrop of dacitic pumice tuff of Fudojiri Formation subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite faices metamorphism. The green parts are dacitic pumice altered to celadonite. There are tuff beds near this outcrop, and those tuff beds turn homogeneous green by formation of celadonite. This celadonite was treated as a semi-precious stone in ancient time, and is often found as necklaces in old burial mounds.
