Dacitic pumice tuff of middle Miocene Fudojiri Formation, Susugaya Subgroup, Tanzawa Group, subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite facies.
Outcrop of dacitic pumice tuff of Fudojiri Formation subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite faices metamorphism. The bluish-green pebbles are massive celadonite formed from dacite pebbles, and plagioclase crystals are included as residues. The surrounding dark gray matrix is tuff. This celadonite was treated as a semi-precious stone in ancient time, and is often found as necklaces in old burial mounds.
