Source for manganese
Field of view: 10 mm. Pyrochroite associated with hausmannite. The pale brown powdery parts are aggregate of fine pyrochroite crystals. The massive dark brown parts are aggregate of fine hausmannite crystals. The white to pale pink grains with a vitreous luster are rhodochrosite.
Recovered from a bedded manganese deposit in pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite.
Pyrochroite from this location was described in 1957.
