Chrysocolla
Kyowa-Funaoka, Daisen city, Akita pref., Japan
Field of view: 10 mm. Massive chrysocolla. The massive pale blue vein with a vitreous luster is chrysocolla. The blue crust at the lower right is linarite. The basement is gangue quartz encrusted with brown limonite.
Recovered from a meteoric oxidation zone of a moderate-temperature hydrothermal deposit in andesitic pyroclastics formed by dacite probably associated with a volcanic activity of a caldera.
Chrysocolla from this location was described in 1908.
