Nomashi, Oshima city, Tokyo, Japan
Occurrence
Cu-bearing minerals on the surface of volcanic lapilli at the caldera of the Izu-Oshima Volcano, the northernmost volcano of the Izu-Bonin-Mariana oceanic arc. Cu-bearing minerals were deposited from volcanic gas of fumaroles. The volcanic lapilli are S2 member by the 6th century (1.4 ka) eruption, by which presnt caldera was formed. The volcanic lapilli are composed of tholeiitic basalt to andesite. The Izu-Oshima Volcano has been active since the Middle Pleistocene (0.37 Ma). The ages of lavas were determined by radiocarbon dating.
