Field of view: 20 mm. Atacamite formed by sublimation. The green crusts are aggregate of fine atacamite. The black basement is tholeiitic basalt to andesite lava with many vesicules.
Recovered from volcanic lapilli of a caldera in an oceanic arc. Formed in the 6th century (1.4 ka).
Atacamite from this location was described in 2005.
