This species is often labeled as Tillandsia polystachia.
There are such differences from Tillandsia polystachia as: The bract covers the lower half of the flower spike. The leaves are more springy and upright. The bracts of the inflorescence are pendulous. Leaves have more trichomes and it has a mat luster.
