Field of view: 50 mm. Wolframite associated with molybdenite. The tabular black crystals at the center and at the lower right are wolframite. The platy silver-white parts with a metallic luster at the top and at the right are molybdenite. The translucent white host with a vitreous luster is gangue quartz.
Recovered from a quartz vein in a pneumatolytic deposit in I-type (Magnetite-series) granite. Formed in the early Paleocene (65 Ma).
Molybdenite from this location was described in 1957.
