Wairakite
Nakanokura, Minobu city, Minami-Koma county, Yamanashi pref., Japan
Field of view: 20 mm. A group of wairakite. The opaque white trapezohedral crystals are wairakite. The massive translucent white part with a vitreous luster at the left is also wairakite.
Recovered from a wairakite vein in basaltic to andesitic hyaloclastite subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite facies metamorphism. Formed in the middle Miocene (12 Ma).
