Field of view: 30 mm. Spessartine associated with rhodonite. The transparent pale brown dodecahedrons are spessartine. The pale pink parts of the basement are rhodonite, and the black parts of the basement are rhodonite encrusted with manganese dioxide.
Recovered from a bedded manganese deposit in pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite.
Spessartine from this location was described in 1950.
