Pyroxmangite

Field of view: 20 mm. Pyroxmangite associated with neotocite. The transparent red grains are pyroxmangite. The surrounding massive opaque dark brown part is neotocite. The white grains with a vitreous luster are quartz. The massive pale brown parts are fine aggregate of pyroxmangite and quartz.
Recovered from a bedded manganese deposit in pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite.
Pyroxmangite from this location was described in 1956.
