Shimobe, Minobu city, Minami-Koma county, Yamanashi pref., Japan
Field of view: 5 mm. Piemontite associated with bustamite. The massive groups of reddish-brown prisms are piemontite. The surrounding massive pale brown parts are aggregate of fine bustamite crystals. The white grains in bustamite are relic plagioclase of the protolith tuff.
Recovered from tuff associated with a mudstone-hosted Cu-Mn deposit subjected to Zeolite facies metamorphism.
Piemontite from this location was described in 1982.
