Mangano-cummingtonite?
Odaira, Tono village, Iwaki city, Fukushima pref., Japan
Field of view: 5 mm. Amphibole associated with rhodonite. The acicular white to pale yellowish-brown crystals are amphibole, probably mangano-cummingtonite. The transparent parts with a vitreous luster are quartz, and the red parts are rhodonite.
Recovered from a bedded manganese deposit subjected to Epidote-Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granite.
Manganocummingtonite from this location was described in 1979.
