Hydromagnesite

Field of view: 3 mm. Groups of hydromagnesite. The botryoidal white group is hydromagnesite composed of radial groups of platy crystals. Perfect cleavage along the basal plane of hydromagnesite is exhibited. The yellowish-green basement is serpentinite.
Recovered from a meteoric oxidation zone of serpentinite in an accretionary complex subjected to Greenschist facies high-pressure metamorphism.
Hydromagnesite from this location was described in 1982.
