Occurrence

Albitite

Jadeite block asscociated with serpentinite mélange in the Sekinomiya Ultramafic Rocks, a part of the Late Ordovisian (450 Ma) Oeyama Ophiolite in the Hida Marginal Belt in the broad sense. The protolith of serpentinite is harzburgite. The age of ophiolite was determined by K-Ar radiometric dating of hornblende.

Hijiro Valley

Jadeite block in serpentinite of theSekinomiya Ultramafic Rocks. Outcrop near the signboard is serpentinite. The white block in the iron fence at the left is jadeite.
