Circumstances

Underwater part of delta plain, horizontal and flat plain formed by sediments on delta front. Biological activity is dominant.

Sands and mud in delta at river mouth. Foreshore sediments in fan delta.

Sedimentary facies (Structures)

Mud drape, thin mud beds on the foliated sand beds. Coarse sands are supplied and deposit during rising tides, and mud deposit during Ebb tides and at high and low tides. Herringbone cross-stratification at the river mouth subjected to the strong tide. Herringbone cross-stratification is stacks of cross-stratifications having opposite directions, which are formed by rising and Ebb tides. Sediments subjected to strong bioturbation.
