Field of view: 10 mm. A single crystal of spodumene. The tabular grayish-white crystal exhibiting perfect cleavage is spodumene. The surrounding white parts are albite.
Recovered from a spodumene subtype rare-element pegmatite in S-type (Ilmenite-series) granite. Formed in the Late Cretaceous (100 Ma).
The first spodumene from Japan was reported from this location in 1977.
