Kaersutite
Hongo, Fujieda city, Shizuoka pref., Japan
Field of view: 50 mm. Kaersutite in basalt. The black prisms exhibiting perfect cleavage are kaersutite. The small holes are vesicules of the lava.
Recovered from an alkaline basalt lava overlying an accretionary complex. Formed in the early Miocene (16 Ma).
Kaersutite from this location was described in 1959.
