Hörnesite

Field of view: 3 mm. Hörnesite associated with forsterite. The white parts are groups of white hörnesite fibers. The pale green basement is massive aggregate of granular forsterite.

Recovered from peridotite subjected to contact metamorphism by S-type (Ilmenite-series) granodiorite.

The first hörnesite from Japan was reported from this location in 1988.
