Source for Gold
Field of view: 1 mm. A gold crystal in garnet-skarn. The yellow grain at the right is gold. The massive white host is quartz.
Recovered from an open space of a quartz vein in skarn formed by contact metamorphism of I-type (magnetite-series) quartz diorite. Formed in the late Miocene (6 Ma).
Gold from this location was described in 2002.
