Field of view: 5 mm. Aggregate of ferro-gedrite. The specimen is composed of fibrous black crystals of ferro-gedrite. The brown grains are quartz.
Recovered from skarn formed by contact metamorphism of S-type (ilmenite-series) granite of the caldera complex in the skarn-moderate temperature hydrothermal deposit associated with the same caldera complex. Formed in the middle Paleocene (60 Ma).
Ferro-gedrite from this location was described in 1980.
