Copal

Left cone: 10 mm in diameter. Copal associated with Metasequoia fossil. The massive yellowish-brown specimens with a resinous luster are copal. The copal is very fragile because it is not matured as amber.
Recovered from tuffaceous sandstone formed under a fluvial to shallow marine environment. Formed in the early Pleistocene (2.2 Ma).
Copal from this location was described in 1997.
