Field of view: 10 mm. Columbite-(Fe) in pegmatite. The tabular black crystal is columbite-(Fe) with rough striations. The opaque white host is feldspar.
Recovered from a beryl-columbite subtype rare-element pegmatite in S-type (Ilumenite-series) granite. Formed in the middle Paleocene (60 Ma).
Columbite-(Fe) from this location was described in 1931.
