Fusulinid
Shiozawa, Otaki, Chichibu city, Saitama pref., Japan
Permian, Paleozoic (280 Ma)
Width: 20 mm. Fossil of fusulinid etched out on the weathered surface of the limestone pebble. The spiral pattern at the right side is a fusulinid fossil in the gray limestone pebble. This pebble contains many unclear fusulinid fossils. The dark brown part at the left is a matrix of the host conglomerate. There is an outcrop of tuffaceous breccia containing many limestone rubbles which produce fusulinid limetone pebbles. Recovered from the Permian limestone in the Early Jurassic (180 Ma) Ohirayama unit, a member of the Southern Chichibu accretionary complex.
