  • Sturdy species. Relatively high degree of high/low-temperature tolerance.
  • White color variation, Alba is known.
  • The blooming size of Tillandsia tricolor is more than 25 cm, whereas that of Tillandsia melanocrater is less than 25 cm.
  • Tillandsia tricolor distributes at altitudes of 750 m or higher, whereas Tillandsia melanocrater distributes at altitudes of 50 m or lower.

  • Aug. 2019 Leaves at the top of the offshoot began to expand.
  • Jan. 2019 Only an offshoot began to grow larger, and others stopped growing.

  • Sept. 2018 5 offshoots began to grow at the bottom of the foliage.
  • May 2018 The seed pods opened, and seeds are scattered.

  • July 2017 Seed pods began to grow.
  • Apr. 2017 It bloomed.

  • Sept. 2016 An inflorescence and roots began to grow.

  • July 2015 Leaf tips turned red.

Cultivation Log (1st foliage)

  • Mar. 2009 It keeps growing but the size of foliage became smaller than that of the original one.

  • Oct. 2006 Moved to another site. Cultivation condition is almost same as the previous site.

  • Oct. 2005 It keeps growing well.

  • Aug. 2004 The temperature rises above 30 °C for 40 days, and the highest temperature was over 39 °C.
