The foliage has been cultivated since 2017. There is a variety having more rigid leaves, Tillandsia stricta 'Rigid leaf'.

Left: Tillandsia stricta var. albifolia, Right: Standard variety of Tillandsia stricta. Leaves of Tillandsia stricta var. albifolia are more succulent and rigid. The surface of the leaves is covered with trichomes and looks white.
