- The small rosette is composed of rigid leaves. Produces many offsets.
- It resembles Tillandsia recangula. Leaves of Tillandsia funebris is up to 50 mm long and longer than the stem. The stem branches frequently. Floral bracts are larger and are almost same size as sepals.
