Vesuvianite

Field of view: 50 mm. A group of vesuvianite. The pyramidal grayish-brown crystals are vesuvianite. These crystal has no prismatic face parallel to the C-axis.
Recovered from an open space in skarn formed by contact metamorphism of I-type (Magnetite-series) quartz diorite. Formed in the late Miocene (6 Ma).
Vesuvianite from this location was described in 1930.

Field of view: 10 mm. Prismatic vesuvianite. The grayish-brown prisms with a vitreous luster are vesuvianite. These crystals are elongated along the C-axis of the crystal.
