Field of view: 5 mm. Niahite(?) associated with rhodonite. The group of pale brown fibers is niahite(?). The black parts are a crust of manganese dioxide formed by weathering of niahite(?).
Recovered from a niahite vein in a bedded manganese deposit in pelitic schist subjected to Amphibolite facies regional metamorphism and contact metamorphism by granodiorite.
The first niahite from Japan was reported from this location in 1984.
