Field of view: 30 mm. A crystal of hedenbergite. The dark green prisms are hedenbergite. The opaque white parts are calcite.
Recovered from skarn formed by contact metamorphism of S-type (Ilmenite-series) diorite. Formed in the late Miocene (11 Ma).
Hedenbergite from this location was described in 1898.
