Halloysite
Hirukawa, Nakatsugawa city, Gifu pref., Japan
Field of view: 10 mm. Halloysite associated with löllingite. The pink to white crusts are groups of earthy halloysite. The silver-white basement is löllingite.
Recovered from a löllingite vein of a pneumatolytic deposit formed near the boundary between welded tuff and S-type (Ilmenite-series) granite, members of a caldera complex.
Halloysite from this location was described in 1979.
