Cyanotrichite
Araya, Aga city, Higashi-Kambara county, Niigata pref., Japan
Field of view: 10 mm. Crystals of Cyanotrichite. The radial groups of acicular blue crystals are cyanotrichite. The brown basement is quartz encrusted with limonite.
Recovered from an open space of a quartz vein in a meteoric oxdation zone of a moderate-temperature hydrothermal deposit associated with rhyolite.
The first cyanotrichite from Japan was reported from this location in 1999.
Field of view: 15 mm. Cyanotrichite on the surface of quartz. The columnar group of acicular blue crystals is cyanotrichite. As color and luster are slightly different from the above specimen, either of specimen may be carbonatecyanotrichite. The basement is quartz.
