Cuprite
Naganobori, Mito village, Mine city, Yamaguchi pref., Japan
Field of view: 5 mm. Cuprite associated with chrysocolla in an open space of the hedenbergite-skarn ore. The granular dark red crystals are cuprite. The massive pale blue parts around cuprite are chrysocolla. The orange parts are limonite crusts.
Recovered from a meteoric oxidation zone of a pneumatolytic deposit combined with skarn formed by contact metamorphism of S-type (ilmenite-series) granite.
