Braunite

Field of view: 30 mm. Massive braunite. The massive black part at the upper half is aggregate of very fine braunite crystals. The white part at the bottom is the host chert.
Recovered from a chert-hosted bedded manganese deposit subjected to Pumpellyite-Actinolite facies metamorphism.
Braunite from this location was described in 1981.
