Annabergite

Field of view: 5 mm. Annabergite formed by weathering of nickeline and gersdorffite. The pale green crust on the surface is annabergite. The dark green basement is serpentinite including nickeline and gersdorffite.

Recovered from a meteoric oxidation zone of a Fe-Ni deposit in serpentinitized harzburgite, a part of an opholite. Formed in less than 50 years after the mine was closed,

The first annabergite from Japan was reported from this location in 1909.
