The foliage, which was labeled as Tillandsia bryoides, has been cultivated since 2020. The smaller foliage at the bottom is Tillandsia minutiflora which is also labeled as Tillandsia bryoides. Tillandsia tricholepis produces 1 - 2 yellow flowers bloom at the top of a short inflorescence. Leaves are closed under the dry condition and the foliage looks like that of Tillandsia minutiflora (Tillandsia bryoides). On the other hand, leaves are opened under the wet condition and the foliage looks like that of standard Tillandsia tricholepis

Leaves of the standard Tillandsia tricholepis are opened. Leaves of the closed form of Tillandsia tricholepis shows darker color and are closed when the foliage is under a dry condition. Distance between leaves of the short form of Tillandsia tricholepis are narrower than others.
