Locations

Southern window sides. Species which need better ventilations and/or cooler climate are hanged directly from the ceiling or in hanging baskets made of coarse rattan or bamboo. Other species are set on shelves with good ventilaton. Windows are closed during the daytime, and are opened for ventilations from evening to eary morning.

Light

Foliages are placed in partial shade or dappled sun under trees.

Soaking

Foliages are dipped every week in the night in pooled water using washtubs and buckets for 3 - 4 hours. Soaking longer than 6 hours may cause serious trouble and must be avoided. Foliages are taken out of the water in the early morning, and dry them by draft from an electric fan for a while. Foliages are exposed to the wind long enough before the temperature goes up in case they are placed in the sun in the hot and humid summer. During a wet season, turn foliages upside down and shake them to remove excess water on the bottom of foliages.

Fertilizing

Fertilize once or twice in the spring and the autumn. 1,000 fold diluted liquid fertilizer is mixed in the water for spraying.
